Floppy
Sunday, 6:06 pm in Geeking
Aaah, some ever better news, faceless masses of Audience! I’ve found Dev/Null’s floppy disk drive. For those of you who don’t know, Dev/Null is my other computer – running on [url=http://www.freebsd.org]FreeBSD[/a]. For literally months I haven’t been able to find my floppy drive. CD-ROM, yes, floppy, no. Everyone I’ve talked to has said; “Just type mount /f0d.” But that never worked. Problem; all the people I talked too assumed that Dev/Null was already configured. Well, no sorry; no plug-and-play for me. Finally, after much angst, I found the fstab file in /etc. Hooray! Rejoice! An extra line of text, a new directory called /floppy and viola! we have floppy disk access! I even figured out how to format the damn things so that Dev/Null can read them. Hoo-blogging-ray. Finally. And I installed X… now I just have to figure out how to use that. Command line is easier for now. I never thought I’d hear myself say something like that. “Command line is easier than GUI.” See, that’s what years of using Windows does to you…
