Blergh… I’ve gone back to working on the sk.art module again… It’s probably going to be even bigger than sk.log, which is pretty understandable. So much fiddly shit; and I’m not just talking about handling the image uploads. That is relativley easy. It’s the layers of complexity in everything else which is going to be… not difficult, but annoying.

Here’s the basics of how I want it to work;
· Art is arranged into ‘folders’ (a la VCL)
· Each folder has a permission level for both viewing and commenting which is based around the watch/friends list, but can also be set to everyone or no-one, with a list of username exceptions
· View and comment permissions are different; so people may be able to see something but not comment
· There is a watch list a la dA, but certain watchers can be marked as ‘friends’ for use with permissions
· A user will have the ability to hide their watch list
· The site admin will be able to set the maximum meg of uploads a user at any particular level is allowed (to conserve bandwidth), but
· A user may either upload images to the site or remotley link them from another site
· I have no idea how I’m going to do thumbnails
· A user will have a journal, entries will have similar permissions as per directories
· A user may keep a list of journals using the livejournal system (ie. livejournal, deadjournal, ujournal, etc.) and synch them with their art/journal posts at the sk.art
· A user may choose which journal to update at any one time
· Permissions from art/journal keep near as possible when transfered to lj (ie. friends only entires, no comments, etc.)

So, in other words, it’s a kind of mash of the popular features of VCL, dA and lj art journals. I’m open to suggestions on how people think it should work, as well. Or if anyone would be interested in helping me test the system (or even code it!) that too would be cool. I’d like to get most of the groundwork done in the next month or so… but I make no promises…

:music: Siuosxie and the Banshees, “Sick Child”
