Humbug on a Shoestring

Christmas shopping is too expensive. Especially shopping for ~Mat [h], who aside from being the only person I really feel obliged to buy presents for is also really the only person who I really care about buying good presents for. So after digging deep into Civic I think I managed to find about the only thing I can remember ~Mat [h] saying he wanted that he didn’t actually go out and buy frmo himself; yay! Then, after finding that – the ‘sensible’ present – I happened to walk past another awesome impulse-buy present. It’s kind of for, well, everyone really; me and ~Mat [h] and ~alysande [h] and Ben and ~wolf [h]. I hope it’s as awesome as it looks…

So that’s a bunch of shopping done. I should also get presents for ~Mat [h]’s mother (but I know what I’m getting there I think) as well as ~braken [h], and I also know what I’ll get him but it’s one of those things that might have to wait for a few weeks until my money ‘refreshes’ itself. Then there’s ~koorime [h], ~Mage [h], ~Tajessa [h], ~starfyre [h] and ~Random [h]; I think I’m going to be buying presents slowly, so if I suddenly turn up in mid-February with a Santa hat on, you’ll know why.

Worked on sk.log a bit more today, in between getting into fights at CodeGrrl. I re-worked the admin panel, so none of you get to see it but hah! Just for the hell of it, I did the whole thing sans-tables, just using <div>’s and CSS’ table-mimicing elements for the layout. It was kind of stupid, really. I dunno, I suppose it was okay, but it’s a whole fuckload more typing than just doing it the conventional way with <table>. I still don’t get XHTML.

The CPanel is pretty cool, though, even though it doesn’t actually have any extra functionality over the way I used to have it done. There’s still the banlist (by referer string, client type or IP) and – my favourite – the IP tracker. There’s also a whole lot of disgnostic stuff; all the tables in the sk.log database (filtered by table prefix, if appropriate), their sizes and overheads, plus an output of the ‘module’ content in the master inode table. So I now know I have 22 post categories (wow), 74 posts (53 of which are mirrored on LiveJournal) and 53 comments. Cool.

My site is dying in subdomains again. Guh. Oh well, off to do Winter Veil quests in WoW

We pick up Vesper tomorrow (I think). So exciting!
