Does anyone else see a dangerous irony in this?
So, basically, the US villifies (and often bombs and/or invades) countries with Shari'a law as being ‘backwards’ and ‘respressive to women’ then it goes and does something like this. Excuse me? And is it just me, or does anyone else out there think that a doctor who knowingly omits a common and well-establishes treatment option is comitting malpractice? It would be like not telling a heart attack patient about bypass surgery or whatever (I dunno, I’m not a doctor, but you get the idea). The doctor is like the GM in DnD; she’s there to explain the situation to you, and present you with some options, but untimatley it’s up to you to decide. If I got eaten by a Gold Dragon because the GM neglected to tell me about a handy can of anti-dragon spray right next to me, I would be a bit pissed off. This would have noting on the emotion I’d feel if a doctor did the same thing.
Bah. We’re not going to Hell; we’re making it…

on a nearly completely irrelevent sidenote; it’s amazing how, for being such a shunned and feared (by religous folk mostly) pasttime, applicable dnd situations can be to real life nonequivalents. it’s like the most versatile and comprehensible analogy you can find on the internet.

Let’s hope when Nov.2 rolls around they’ll have the sense to toss this jerkoff out on his ass. This Bush-inspired dissolution of the line between Church and State is grotesque, it really is. You’re right, they’ll bomb the hell out of Islamic Theocracies, but it’s a-ok for them to create a Christian one right here.
Fucking <i>disgusting</i>. And the doctors who just fall in line with this should be ashamed, their <i>patients</i> choose the course of action they wish to take, not them. All the options must at least be made known, if not available.
Grrr. Argh.
