Oh-kaay. Apparently some time during the couple of hours between now and when I last posted, someone came in and totally hacked the way my server’s PHP worked. I think they must’ve done an upgrade on it, because I came here tonight only to find that all instanced of $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] were mysteriously broken. This doesn’t screw sk.log up too much; mostly because one of its main config variables is your home URL, but this change – assuming that is what is is and it’s not just some random thing – is really going to fuck a lot of scripts’ shit up.
Anyway, if anyone of you encounter any broken forms, please let me know (yes, the feedback form should work).
I wonder what the rationale behind the change was? I know recent versions of PHP are trying to clean up some of the language’s glaring security flaws, so I can only guess it’s part of that. The behaviour of $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] seems to have been changed from returning the full URI to returning only the current filename (or directory?), which actually now that I think about it probably doesn’t effect most people’s scripts all that much. sk.log just got burnt because of the nubass way it does its query strings.
Oh well. Thank gods for UltraEdit’s Save to FTP.
My stuff arrived from Lip Service today; a tshirt and two hoodies. The fabric of the tshirt is very thin and it’s probably about a size too big (unless it shrinks in the wash), but the hoodies are great. They’re actually a lot thicker than I imagined – I guess I now know what ‘French terrycloth’ is – which has made me a happy camper since the quality of LS stuff, especially the stuff they ship out, tends to be variable. But I do indeed like my new tops; I can now retire some of my old ones. Like the big, battered men’s Serious jumper I got from Melbourne a few years back that mum hates.
Except the chemical fumes from my new clothes starting to make me feel ill. Damn you, American clothing! Why must you be so fumigated!
