Once upon a time when the city [dex=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3152451.stm]blacked out[/dex] people would blame something boring like a fire or an idiot. Nowadays what is it? Terrorism. Oh, of course. The train is 5 minutes late; it’s terrorism. A picture falls off the wall; it’s terrorism. You can’t find your other shoe; it’s terrorism.

And, well, shit, if it ain’t that it’s gotta be this dang wurm that’s going round. Say nothing of the fact that any company or government that entrusts important infrastructure such as power plants to Microsoft needs a great big stab in the eye.

Maybe I’m just tired. All I know is that it’s blacking out all over the US and Canada and yet people are still manging to post in their weblogs. Jesus, people, go outside and enjoy what miserable scrapings are left of the environment for once. Think of this as a public holiday! National Amish Living Day. Take your kids/significant other/dog to the park or beach or something. Or have sex. Read a spooky book with a torch under your bedcovers. Hold an impromptu authentic-style no-power Renn Faire. Play with matches. Go camping. In fact, there are many fun activities in which power does not feature. Take this as your day to enjoy them all.

Making a public holiday out of any situation big or small; that’s the Australian way!

I really need to go to bed. Damn class.
