New Computer FTW

Thursday, 3:26 pm in Life

My new computer is so quiet. It’s got more fan twirling away than my last one, but I can barely tell when it’s running or not… it’s so cool! Like, oh my god! Even if reinstalling everything is a bit of a pain in the ass. I should really get onto finishing that, too; just basic stuff, like virus checkers. Yeah.

My parents rang tonight from their holiday. As usual, I was in the middle of an insance in WoW, so told them to go away. Afterwards I felt kinda bad about it, since I have a whole bunch of stuff I want to tell them (eg. “Hey, I bought a new computer!”) but I also didn’t want to make my group wait for me, since it was me who dragged them out to LBRS to get my UBRS key made up. On the plus side, I now have an UBRS key, the guild has three (possibly four) new level sixty members and I really need to ring my parents back tomorrow to apologise. It’s not that I’m always playing WoW, mum, honest! In fact, I’ve barely touched it for the last few days since I’ve been mucking about with putting together my computer. ~Mat [h] thinks he’s probably sold off my old one, too. Mostly for scrap, but money is money.

I also sent off my job documents today. So nerve-wracking, but I think it will be alright. I have a medical exam, too, on the 17th. I’ve never had to have an employee medical exam before, so I’m a bit… not really nervous, but just wondering what they’ll do. I know I will have to pee in a cup (for all those drugs I take…) and they’ll give me an eye test. I think I need new glasses, actually, so no complaints there. Unless they want to give me a glaucoma test as well. Fuck I hate those; to the point that they actually make me cry because they scare me so much. Things being near my eyes… urgh. I got to fill in a super-fun form with questions like “Have you had hepatitis?” and “Do you have HIV (only applicable for overseas postings)?”.  And another with “Please list any felonies you have been convicted for. If you need more room, please attach a seperate sheet to the back of this one”. Funny stuff. (For the record, I have been convicted of no felonies, just in case you were curious.)

Oh yeah, me and ~Mat [h] also entered this competition. Mmm yeah, Iron Chef food. Actually, it’s kinda scary since they make all this weird fancy cuisine, and since it’s Sakai I can just imagine all the foie gras and truffles. Still, I suppose you have to go into it with the thought that, well, they’re super-professional chefs and everything they make is probably, like, better than the best food imaginable. So, all you guys out there cheer me on to win, okay? I’ll tell you what it was like, I swear.
