Today I spent 4 hours in the library reading how psychiatry has fucked society up. It was a bit of a squick read; the descriptions of things like shock treatment (electric and otherwise), eugenics (y’know, the stuff the Nazis did), psychosurgery (ie. lobotomies and worse), depatterning and brainwashing, use of psychotropic drugs (like, did you know Ritalin is addictive and people experiencing withdrawal have been known to spontaneously murder family members), involuntary and forced comitment and treatment, the haphazard and popularist way “illnesses” are officiated, general lack of any solid supporting evidence and barbaric sexual and emotional states of many of the leading figures of psychiatry and psychology has completely put me off the idea of ever going to see one or even recommending anyone go and see one… or even get in close proximity.<br /> <br /> [2 hours of long-distance phonecall later]<br /> <br /> Anyway, tonight I taught wolf how to program (hopefully some of it stuck). And I still miss you. And that’s about all, really.
