Voodostyle

Well, the teeth are out.

8:30am into the dentist’s room, lie down on the chair, get plugged into the various blipper machines, dentist takes about five minutes trying to find my vein (note to self: do not become intravenous drug user), get the oxygen, get slightly high off the oxygen, get the sedative, get the IV, fall asleep, wake up with mouth full of gauze wadding.

That was about it. Felt really woozy when I got out of the surgery; everyone says that the sedative makes you feel ‘really good’, but if there’s one feeling I strive to avoid most of all (maybe second most, since I’m not a big fan of pain either) it’s the feeling of not being in control of my own actions; that doped up drunk feeling. So I came home, took then ten zillion pills i’m supposed to take, ate a bowl of ice-cream, and went to sleep for three hours with ~Mat [h] coming in every twenty minutes or so to change my ice-packs (to reduce swelling). He’s such a sweetie.

Now I’m up and about because the sedatives have worn off. Had another bowl of ice-cream and got the suspicion that I’m really going to be craving salami by dinnertime. The good part was probably the fact I only had one bottom wisdom tooth (bottom left, Liz), so I’m a little stiff and sore on that side only, but nothing unmanagable. Mostly just kind of annoying. My right side feels fine; it doesn’t even fell like I’ve had surgery there unless I activley start poking at my right cheek. I had a bit of a look in the mirror and a poke about with the tongue (not a lot  because I can’t open my jaw very wide) and it doesn’t even look like there’s been any surgery up there at all bar the fact the gumline drops down a bit sooner than it used to. My bottom left is stitched up, so it’s a bit more obvious (esepcially since I keep biting the stitches by accident). My face is a little swolen, but because I have a pretty rounded face anyway it just makes me look like I have my fat babycheeks back.

But yeah… no big deal. They gave me the teeth, too. The bottom one got imploded, so it’s in three pieces, but one piece – the biggest one – has a dirty great hole through the middle of it which makes me want to turn it into a necklace or something (is that too morbid?). I’m glad I’m not rolling in agony, though, because the ‘hardcore’ painkillers the dentist gave me cause constipation… and this is ontop of already living for a week with my family on their all-fat-no-carbs Atkins diet. Eurgh.
