Where's the Milk?

Monday, 3:20 pm in Life

Okay, I admit it; I’m a todo list junkie. It makes me feel better about my horrible, horrible procrastination habits and – let’s face it – organising your productivity tools is, indeed, a procrastination method in and of itself. To be fair, though, I do have a pretty terrible memory so at work I obsessively write everything down; I’ve got a Moleskine 18 month weekly planner which I fill with scribbles and appointments. Moleskine is good and useful to take notes in meetings, but I’ve been looking for an electronic service as well. My main problem with tracking down something that’s actually useful is that on any one day I use three computers, two operating systems, a cell phone and an iPod. So while I love iCal, I can’t synch it with work and I can’t access Outlook from home.

Poo.

And then I found Remember the Milk. First bonus points; it’s developed by Australians. Second bonus points; it interfaces with not only iCal but with Netvibes1 and with Twitter as well. Oh happy, happy day! See, Twitter is about the only web app I can get to send me SMS notifications. Most everywhere else requires an email-to-SMS address, and on Optus I don’t have one (I’m not even sure if I can get one; their website is irritatingly unclear).

So now I can totally write reminders into RTM and when I’m out my phone (and when I’m in, my email) will handily ping me when I have to go do stuff. Oh I’m so connected!

Okay, so I don’t know how long it’ll last until I go back to Moleskine for everything, but… for now, it’s fun.

  1. Screw Google; I’m a Netvibes junkie. In fact, I am typing the draft for this post on Netvibes right now. ^
