One more sleep one more sleep one more sleep!
So Wednesday is Burning Crusade release day and we all go, “Huzzah!” EB is having a midnight launch for it, as they have a tendency to do, and because I don’t trust the bastards to hold my two WoW:BC CE pre-orders (one for ~Mat [h] and one that was for me but will now go to dad) I’m trundling down there at about 11pm on the Tuesday. Because Civic can be kinda scary at night, dad offered to accompany me (~Mat [h] reckons he, like, has to work or something; I took the Wednesday off because I am a big nerd and you can all go die) and upon hearing that, mum decided that she wanted to come too. So it’s going to be a family outing.

alysande and I think ~braken [h] are coming down to visit over the Australia Day Long Weekend, and I’ve been roped into running an RP campaign while they’re down. Foolishly I offered to run a WoWRPG story, which means I might actually have to, like, learn the d20 rules. psuedoskribe and necromage you dudes are also invited (and any other miscellaneous interested Canberra friends)!
In other news, yeah okay I admit it; I want one. I still have a little over twelve months on my current phone’s contract; hopefully by the time it’s up the iPhone will be available here.

So if one is for Mat and the other is for your dad, where’s your copy? And I find it very cool that your parents are going to hang out with you while you wait. My parents just wouldn’t understand it. I’m not sure I do sometimes (most of the time). Stupd Funcoland not doing midnight opening where I preordered mine.
On a side note: could you suggest some books or online references to how to create php news posts, much like the ones that were on the Elavion main page. I want to do something like that for Circle Seven’s page. My knowledge in PHP is very basic but I’m picking up things by playing with our DKP and WoWRoster sites.

alysande has got my copy at her EB. It was my birfday/Xmas present; no effort involved (except a bit of whining). :]And, uh gosh, I learnt PHP so long ago I don’t think the references I used are still relevant.
I started writing a build-a-blog tutorial here but I think I’ve only yet posted two parts to it. There are lots of prefab blog and CMS scripts out there, though, which would probably be easier than that whole thing about re-inventing wheels.The Elavion news pages was actually just a short SQL query that plugged into the phpBB database; all the ‘hard’ work (new post, edit post, etc.) was all done by phpBB.

Wow, what’d they do to piss you off so? I don’t think I ever got the rundown on how you two parted with Elavion. I must be missing how being in C7 would lead to the destruction of Elavion.

For me it was finding out Nick and Steph were badmouthing me, behind my back, on my own site, which I was paying money for and in my guild, which I founded, and which I put hours and hours of effort into fostering.
